Do not generate a new Setup URI in your EiraSync dashboard to add a second device. This will reset your credentials — including your CouchDB password and E2EE passphrase — and disconnect every device already connected to the vault. Instead, open the Self-hosted LiveSync plugin settings on your already connected device and use the built-in feature to copy or display a Setup URI for your new device:
  1. On your first device: Settings → Self-hosted LiveSync → Setup tab → Show QR code (or copy the Setup URI).
  2. On the new device: install LiveSync, choose adding a device to an existing setup, then paste the link or scan the QR code.
  3. When asked about uploading local notes, choose No — fetch from the server instead.
If you still have the original setup link and Setup URI passphrase from your dashboard, you can paste that on the new device instead. Use the same link on every device — never generate a new one in the dashboard unless your credentials are compromised. For the full walkthrough with screenshots, see the Setup tutorial.
